At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally, and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.
**Mō tēnei tūranga | About the role**
The Chief Advisor - Learning Support will take a lead in the region strengthening learning support practice for whānau, mokopuna and Kaiako Māori to ensure Learning Support is culturally responsive, and improves outcomes for Māori.
The role will:
- work closely with national office and wider stakeholders to ensure resources are culturally affirming and responsive, that they incorporate and embody Māori values and perspectives, and align with and support evidence-informed, effective learning support practices.
- provide guidance, information, consolidated feedback, and resources to support and enable Directors of Education to develop new, and harness existing relationships to influence the direction and thinking of networks of learning support.
- work with and across the region and Te Tāhuhu business groups to critique and advise on regional learning support context, barriers, and opportunities. Provide regional oversight and direction to all managers on practice leadership, and support for supervision systems in collaboration with our Learning Support team in national office.
- contribute to the development, establishment, and ongoing evolution of a consistent service offering, that remains agile and responsive to regional, local, and client needs. Provide direction and equip managers to influence, inspire and move behaviours that sees a transformation in our service offerings and delivery. Ensure where there are initiatives being implemented, that these are complementary and aligned.
- monitor and evaluate the legislation, political, and sector environment so to advise on adaptation required to address emerging issues, and feed into policy and direction.
**Mōhou ake | About you**
You will bring with you:
- Demonstrated breadth of knowledge and experience of organisational and service design, development and delivery of effective strategies, and programmes, across an organization or large business group(s) that brings about transformational change.
- Deep understanding and proven ability to drive the implementation of strategies that improve outcomes for learning support.
- Proven ability to deliver improvements to key systems and service in complex organisational settings
- Ability to facilitate outcomes through personal credibility and influence and provide a compelling rationale for change that will capture hearts and minds
- An understanding of the role and importance of education and the sector's role in supporting both individual outcomes and outcomes for the wider economy and community.
**About the group**
Te Mahau | Te Tai Whenua (Central) is part of the frontline group in Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, that includes Te Tai Raro (North), and Te Tai Runga (Southern). We provide integrated learning support services and education advice to the sector, schools, early learning, and others as a collective.
Our contribution is to the development and provision of learning support and education advisory services to shape an inclusive education system that genuinely responds to the need for equity and excellence for all.
It will support our work across four substantive areas:
- Taking practical action to give effect to te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Giving priority to regional and local voice
- Delivering greater responsiveness, accessibility and integrated services and support
- Improving feedback loops and information flows
