**Tēnei tūranga - About the role**:
The Energy and Resource Markets (ERM) branch of approximately 150 professionals is responsible for providing robust strategic, policy and regulatory advice on energy markets, operational regulation, and compliance services. We have an ambitious and exciting work programme ahead to lead the energy and resource sector’s transition to a low-emissions economy. The work is becoming more transformational and strategic in nature and a new model with newly created positions has been established to set the function up for success.

The Manager, Offshore Renewable Energy and Hydrogen is a team leadership and management position within the Energy and Resource Markets policy function. This role will lead a team responsible for undertaking two pieces of work committed to by the Government:

- Offshore Renewables: Developing a regulatory framework for offshore renewables,
- Hydrogen: Developing a roadmap to help to determine the best uses of hydrogen in New Zealand to maximise economic benefit and emissions reductions, and set government objectives for hydrogen in New Zealand.

**This role will be responsible for**:

- Setting strategy for the team, driving activity, allocating resources, cross-Ministry co-ordination and results to maximise the contribution that the team makes to MBIE outcomes and government goals
- Effectively influencing, and contributing to an authorising environment, through building and maintaining enduring relationships with senior stakeholders (including articulating and communicating the purpose of the team and the policy domain).

- Advanced experience (8 + years) in shaping the development and delivery of policy advice and regulatory operation at a senior level
- Proven leadership skills including demonstrated ability to engage and motivate staff and an ability to foster and maintain a high performing team in a complex organisation
- Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and to develop and maintain effective relationships with key government and non-government representatives and senior stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manoeuvre through multiple complex projects and an ability to keep inquiring and learning under pressure or in situations with high ambiguity
