Transpower's report, Whakamana i Te Mauri Hiko - Empowering Our Energy Future, outlines how electrification and renewable generation can help achieve New Zealand's 2050 net carbon zero target while significantly reducing household energy bills. Transpower and our customers - the electricity distributors, generators, and large industrial companies who directly connect to the grid - will be central to delivering this bright energy future.

We have a significant pipeline of new connections to the Grid as a new wave of renewable generation is being developed and electrification of the industrial and transport sectors accelerates. This will continue to build as we move towards a decarbonised future, with the interim goal of enabling 50% renewable total final energy consumption by 2035.

**About the team**

The Customer and Commercial team, as part of our Strategy and Customer Division, works across the business contributing to the fulfilment of Transpower's strategic objectives. This includes maintaining our social licence to operate and enabling and supporting our customers to realise their investment and service objectives.

Transpower's customer engagement enables us to deliver timely and efficient solutions and to ensure existing and new customers have a sound understanding of service levels at their points of connection, the criticality and health of these assets, together with Transpower's forward investment plans. This supports meaningful conversations around appropriate price-quality trade-offs, improved investment outcomes and where possible, aligning customer and Transpower work.

**The Opportunity**

Internal promotion has resulted in this opportunity for you to strategically manage a portfolio of customers, which may include:

- established electricity generators and developers of new renewable generation
- large industrial and commercial businesses
- electricity distributors (lines companies)
- housing and infrastructure developers

Working alongside the Head of Customer and Commercial and with our team, you'll enhance relationships and seek out new opportunities to add value through existing connections and new renewable generation connections, new process heat connections, and new connections that enable accelerated electrification of transport. You'll work at pace to ensure our customers experience:

- Effective engagement on investments, pricing, outages, levels of service, risk, and other items relating to Transpower's service that is important to them
- Effective consultative processes on key industry documents and regulatory processes
- A connections process with efficient cycle time and investment collateral to ensure customers have the information that they need to decide which connection offering is appropriate for their needs

In addition, you'll work with the Regional Engagement Manager to contribute to the strategic management of stakeholders, such as regional and local government, iwi, and other development agencies.

- Diversity of experience in strategic and commercial relationship management for high value customers and stakeholders, delivering improved business outcomes for all parties
- Proven ability to thrive in an evolving organisation or sector, quickly assimilating new information
- You are comfortable leading and negotiating commercial decisions balancing cost, risk, and benefit over multiyear horizons
- A full, clean New Zealand drivers' licence and the ability to travel domestically around 2-3 days per month

While not essential - one or more of the following is desirable:

- Experience in industries involving critical infrastructure of national importance
- Experience managing a portfolio of customer projects
- A general understanding of the nature, design, and operation of the electricity industry
