**The Opportunity**
Are you a mastermind when it comes to throwing unforgettable events? Do you have a passion for bringing people together and creating unique experiences? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you
We are on the lookout for an Events Coordinator to join our ranks, someone with a knack for planning innovative and engaging experiences for our students at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury (UC). If you are equally as comfortable BBQing up some sausages as you are rubbing shoulders with international music artists, even better
If you like thinking outside the square and trying new things, then this is a great opportunity to expand on your skill set across wide variety of event types. Seriously - check out our social media feed - our team delivers Activations, Markets, Awards Ceremonies, Music Festivals, Concerts, BBQs, and everything else in between.
In this role, you'll also have the chance to work with a variety of student groups and clubs, supporting them in their own event planning endeavours. So, if you're ready to jump into the exciting world of event planning, we want to hear from you
**About You**

You need to enjoy collaborating, be comfortable in a high-pace environment, be organised, and have excellent communication skills.
Due to the nature of the role and the organisation, an affinity for and understanding of students is important.
**Important Ski**lls & Qualifications**
- A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (e.g. event management, marketing, tourism, hospitality, communications)
- 2+ years industry experience in planning and delivering successful events would be advantageous, but not essential
- Has a particular empathy, sensitivity and appreciation for students and the diverse ethnic, socio-economic, genders of the student body, staff and clients
- A good understanding of what it means to work in a bi-culturally competent environment, or the openness to learn and grow in this space
- Current and full drivers’ licence
- A creative, enquiring mind and the ability to “think outside the box”
- Ability to work in a team and great sense of humour
**About UCSA**
Established in 1894, the University of Canterbury Student Association (UCSA) is a registered not-for-profit organisation that supports UC students to succeed and belong.
Our organisation is governed by an elected Student Executive, and we employ over 200 staff. Together, we dish up a range of student-focused services, including: advocacy and welfare, representation, subsidised dental and optometry, early learning centres, club support, events, and media.
