Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Are you looking for variety, professional development and a supportive team?
Located across the harbour from Wellington, Te Herenga Tangata, provides services across the beautiful Hutt Valley. We have ten Occupational Therapists in our large inter-disciplinary team which includes Early Supported Discharge along with the Community ORA arm of the service. Our therapists specialize across a broad range of areas from neuro rehabilitation to complex housing modifications and Wheelchair and Seating.
The Occupational Therapist in this role will be using a range of Occupational Therapy skills including Neuro Rehab knowledge to provide cognitive, functional, and environmental assessments for people at home. Clients/whānau include those with neurological conditions such as MS, Gullian Barre, Stroke etc who have been discharged home from hospital or referred by Primary Health. Other client groups include people requiring a Return to Work programme and adults with a range of health conditions impacting on their function.
Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team
You will have access to Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Nurses, Speech Language therapy, Dietitians, along with our medical and Community Nursing colleagues. Our service delivery models are evolving and will see us using inter-professional practice approaches and delegating more work to our skilled Allied Health Assistants.
We are continuing to build relationships with Primary Health and a broad range of Government and Community providers which is already making it easier for our staff to provide timelier, effective and equity focused health services.
Te Herenga Tangata has recently become part of a single Community Older Adults, Rehabilitation and Allied Health group together with our Capital Coast colleagues increasing professional and career development opportunities for our staff. Within this position you will have access to clinical supervision, the support of the OT Professional leader, in-service and external training opportunities relevant to your role.

- being of our people. You will be flexible, keen to learn and innovate, have great communication and relationship skills, persistence, and most importantly a sense of humour.
