**Become our new Assistant Pro Vice-Chancellor Pacific**

This is a critical leadership position where you'll implement a strengths-based approach that empowers Pacific students, staff, and wider Pacific communities; and elevates the profile of Pacific at AUT. You'll have strategic oversight of the Office of Pacific Advancement's student wellbeing and success portfolio and will also undertake strategic work closely with other senior leaders, faculties, and stakeholders to ensure that the institution's Pacific strategies are aligned with the aspirations and needs of Pacific Peoples.

You'll lead and inspire a team of student advisors in the co-design, development, delivery and evaluation of an enhanced Pacific student support service, and a suite of strategic initiatives and activities that are attentive to critical stages of the student journey across Pacific student cohorts - all supported by your expertise and knowledge in leadership, culturally affirming best practice service delivery, and positive transformation.

You'll advise and engage academic, professional and external stakeholders as you collaborate, partner and network across our faculties and directorates to advance Pacific equity objectives under the AUT Strategic Plan and Ki Uta Ki Tai: AUT's Student Success Plan 2022-2025. With the Pro Vice-Chancellor Pacific and Office of Pacific Advancement leadership team, you'll contribute to the development and delivery of a visionary and transformational sector-leading Pacific plan supported by all relevant internal and external stakeholders.

As a key member of Office of Pacific Advancement's leadership team, you will work closely with, and report to, our Pro-Vice Chancellor Pacific Associate Professor Jacoba Matapo, and have an opportunity to collectively shape the Office's contribution to the development and growth of a thriving Pacific community at AUT, furthering AUT as an esteemed and trusted partner amongst Pacific communities and key stakeholders.

This role is a mix of strategic and operational duties, and you will lead up to 8 staff who report into the role, and up to 40 casual and fixed-term staff will also indirectly report to you. As a leader within AUT and OPA, your ongoing leadership development and professional aspirations will be supported.

You'll need to possess a genuine service-leadership mindset, supported by effective organisational skills and a strong ability to develop and lead effective teams. Equally as critical is an authentic, collegial and positive leadership style which values diversity, working inclusively and embodies trustworthiness, confidence and kindness. You'll be a highly collaborative and influencing future-focused leader who listens and is passionate about the advancement of Pacific peoples; whilst enabling ideas, innovation and encouraging proactivity to make things happen.

- Existing extensive relationships within Pacific communities, and knowledge of Pacific values and ways of knowing and being. The ability to operate and lead effectively and respectfully in Pacific cultural contexts is critical.
- At least eight years' experience in community development, an education setting or other relevant sector (health, social services etc.) developing and/or leading Pacific support service provisions, preferably at a senior management level. This must include demonstrated involvement in case management support of clients (previous experience working in a tertiary academic setting would be advantageous).
