Kōrero mō te tūranga ' About the roleWe are looking for an Allied Health Assistant to join our Inpatient Occupational Therapy team. The role is based on our acute wards(including orthopaedic, surgical, plastics and children) and Equipment store at Hutt Hospital. You will also have the opportunity to work with patients in their own homes and the wider community.

In this position you will work under the supervision and delegation of a Registered Occupational Therapist or other Registered Health Practitioner. In the ward setting, you will support patients in their recovery to get back into daily activities and routines. Part of the role involves delivering, educating and installing equipment in clients home, completing service accreditation request and arranging replacement equipment.

Mō tō mātou rōpū ' About our teamThe Occupational Therapy service provides assessment and intervention for patients/clients within the hospital or based in the community. Services are based in ED/MAPU, the acute wards including orthopaedic, surgical, plastics and children's wards and the rehabilitation wards.

Knowledge and Experience
- Experience of direct patient care in the health sector
- An understanding of the role of allied health
- An understanding of the impact of age, illness or disability
- Experience with adaptive equipment
- Able to work alone with patients in home or community settingProfessional Qualifications
- New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing(Level3) Health Assistance, or willing to complete on commencement of employmentOther
- Good level of physical fitness
- Full drivers licence
