Join Te Whatu Ora at a key time of change where you will meaningfully contribute to our kaupapa of creating a more equitable, accessible, cohesive and people-centred health system. This is mahi that will improve the health and well-being of everyone in Aotearoa, and we've got an opportunity for you to be part of it.
**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
Talofa lava, Mālo e lelei, Nisa bula Vinaka, Kia Orana, Taloha ni, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Talofa, Mauri.
Can you bring a Pacific worldview to the work we are doing to achieve better health outcomes for Pacific people in Aotearoa? We know many areas of the health system are not working well for Pacific people, aiga, ngutuare tangata, famili, kāinga, magafoa, kaiga, vuvale and kaaiga (families) and communities. In fact, Pacific health inequities are observed throughout the lifecourse, from pregnancy and early childhood through to older age.
In Pacific Health, we have a clear vision of a system that allows the strength of Pacific families and community voice to be at the heart of what we do, delivering equitable health outcomes for Pacific people and a future where Pacific families live longer, healthier lives.
The Pacific values of family, service, love, reciprocity and respect, along with Pacific culture and customs, influence the way we think and every action we take.
The Pacific Health Group have an opportunity for a **Patient Family Co-Design Lead** to join our Pacific Intelligence and Insights team. The role will use data and stories of Pacific peoples and their experience of the New Zealand Health System to shape and inform the current reforms of the health system in support of tackling Pacific Health priorities. It will provide cultural expertise based on community engagement to the team and wider organisation.
**Mōu | About you**
This is an exciting opportunity for you to make a real contribution to making the world better for our Pacific people. You will have a background in Pacific Health and be an expert in Pacific world views and the models of care that serve the Pacific community well. You will be a confident communicator and self motivated with a work ethic that means you can hit the ground running.
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- You can speak a Pacific language (preferred)
- Instigating effective ways to engage with Pacific communities. Understanding Pasifika world views, cultural practices and relevance to the health system
- Experience in providing Pasifika cultural knowledge and expertise to the Pacific Health Team and wider organisation
- A track record of delivering appropriate Pacific content
- Be a confident communicator
- Can demonstrate previous successful partnership with Pacific Peoples Communities
- Experience working in complex teams in an organisation either regionally or nationally
- Successful experience creating a team culture in which people proactively try new approaches, learn and develop and find ways to continuously improve in their area of expertise
- Experience in building and sustaining effective working relationships
**Ka kawea e koe | You will bring**:
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
**Ko te mahi e tika ana mō te ao hurihuri nei |Work that suits today's ever-changing world**
Te Whatu Ora supports flexible and hybrid working for our kaimahi. In roles that don't require an in-person element, we encourage you to ‘work from where you are.' We want our national teams to be made up of diverse people from across the motu, just like our health system.
**Nau mai, uru mai | Come and join us**
When you join us, you become part of transforming the health system. This is a once in a lifetime change that will touch the lives of everyone in Aotearoa, and future generations.
Our name, Te Whatu Ora, means ‘the weaving of wellness'. Whatu is the combining together of people, resources, organisations, thoughts and actions for the betterment and wellbeing of all. Whatu is also a direct reference to the pupil of the eye, and the vision required of the new entity and system.
We are working towards a system that better meets the complex demands of a growing population, addresses the persistent inequalities experienced by Māori and ensures greater access, experience and outcomes for those traditionally not well served by the system - Māori, Pacific and Disabled People.
**Tō mātou whakahaere ki te tika, te rerekētanga, me te whai wāhi mai | Our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion**
