- McConnell Dowell New Zealand is thriving and has a growing pipeline of work geographically spread across the country. We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Estimator based in Auckland working in our New Zealand business.
- **About The role**

The Mechanical Estimator is responsible for the preparation of cost estimates and technical proposals for tender submissions within the scope of appropriate drawings, specifications, quantities, and cost data, and reviewing cost and technical proposals from suppliers and subcontractors. The Mechanical Estimator reports to the Estimating Manager.- Review tender documentation issued by clients and derive a thorough understanding of clients’ requirements
- Scheduling engineering and construction reviews for the purpose of estimates
- Undertake or arrange the undertaking of quantity take offs and procurement activities
- Prepare cost estimates and technical proposals for tender submissions within the scope of appropriate drawings, specifications, quantities and cost data
- With our procurement team, issuing Request for Quotations (RFQs) for material services and plant to evaluate and select priced proposals for inclusions in estimates on the basis of the best terms and/or price
- Conduct site inspections and contract negotiations with potential suppliers and subcontractors

**What you’ll need**
- Minimum of ten years estimating experience in civil and mechanical construction with specific knowledge in the mechanical field, piping, welding, mechanical component (pumps, valves, etc) installation and estimation.
- Proficient in planning, organising and working to timelines.
- Sound working knowledge of HS&E requirements.
- Strong and clear communication skills with proven ability to engage others.
