As part of improving Cancer Care Coordination, TeWhatu Ora,Waitemata has an exciting Clinical Nurse Specialist opportunity that has become available.
The purpose of this role is to work in partnership with Tumour Stream Clinical Nurse Specialists and provide cancer care coordination for Pacific patients who have a high suspicion of, or confirmed cancer diagnosis. The overall focus is to offer Pacific cultural advice and support to the patient, whānau and wider cancer service team while meeting the Faster Cancer Treatment timeframes in line with Ministry of Health Indicators.
You will be recognised as a clinical and professional leader, being able to champion the provision of high quality health care that delivers equity of health outcomes for Pacific cancer patients. This will include the design and implementation of a programme of quality improvement that addresses the experience and outcomes of Pacific cancer patients.
You role will provide cancer care within the hospital and community. This will include providing a holistic needs assessment, psychosocial support, information and support in clinics and onwards and liaison with all health professionals involved in the patients’ care. Your primary performance indicator will be to ensure Pacific cancer patients have coordinated care.
We are looking for a Senior Nurse who is fluent in one or more of the Pacific Island languages, has strong connections to Pacific groups within the district or North Island and has considerable knowledge of Pacific cultures and Pacific health.
You will be a strong team player, being able to work closely with patients, clinicians, nurses, the Pacific Health Service and other key stakeholders.
