**What PSC is looking for ：**

Technically and practically oriented enthusiastic Undergraduate Electrical Engineer with respectable academic results to assist with projects in the electrical industry which encompasses the generation, transmission and distribution sectors.

**What You’ll Do**

The Summer Student will assist with a variety of assignments under the supervision of Senior or Principal Engineers. The student will report to the Team Leader and/or Project Manager dependent on the current project and will undertake activities in collaboration with a team alongside independent tasks.

Duties and responsibilities include:

- Collaborate with the engineering team in daily duties. Examples are to conduct testing, analyse data, and troubleshoot issues
- Participate in the creation of technical documentation, schematics, reports etc
- Contribute to investigation, research and development activities (R & D Project)
- Work independently on assigned tasks
- Collaborate with team members
- Create and deliver a verbal and written report on a project
- Available for national and international travel
- Following all safety procedures and instructions

Project areas for the Summer Student may cover:

- Operational Technologies including SCADA
- Design and build of equipment and software
- Generator testing.
- System Studies
- International travel may be required which requires a valid passport. PSC will support the student to obtain this if required
- When working in or visiting hazardous areas - All relevant safety equipment will be worn. This will include clothing and equipment such as safety glasses, flame retardant overalls, hard hat and gloves etc. All safety equipment will be provided by PSC and the student will return this equipment at the end of working with PSC
- Occasional work at substation and generation sites requires a reasonable level of fitness and capability. Activities may include require stairs, lifting of equipment, working in confined spaces and working in a variety of temperatures. If there are known issues, then discuss this with PSC

**We’d love you to have**:

- Current enrollment in 1st 2nd of 3rd Professional year of an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Ability to build and maintain effective internal and external working relationships across all levels
- Legally authorised to work in New Zealand
