**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our small and supportive Academic Engagement Team on a part time, 18.75 hours per week basis. Your main responsibility will be to further develop and implement our Māori Academic Engagement Plan within Te Tumu Herenga and across faculties. This could be an ideal role if you are, or would like to become, self-employed and maintain regular employment or if you would like to re-enter the workforce or spend more time with your family. It would also be a good fit if you are looking to undertake postgraduate study. This is a great opportunity to contribute to Māori staff, student and researcher success in a workplace where Te Tiriti o Waitangi underpins everything we do.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

We are looking for someone who has experience building relationships with Māori stakeholders, preferably in an educational or library context. You need to enjoy working with people, and be interested in learning how tertiary libraries work and the value they can add to the educational experience of our tauira Māori and the success of our Māori lecturers and researchers.

You will have the following:

- In depth understanding and implementation of Tikanga Māori and knowledge of te reo Māori. (Fluency in te reo Māori is an advantage).
- Skilled in relationship development/stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective and productive partnerships with academic staff, researchers and/or students.
- Ability to express information clearly and persuasively and tailor messages to influence a range of people and decisions.
- Engagement experience with iwi, tangata whenua, and Māori communities.
- Ability to articulate Māori needs to a non-Māori audience at all levels of the organisation.
- Experience of highly effective collaboration across teams and organisations.
- Demonstrated experience in leading without authority.
- Experience and understanding of working in partnership with academics, students, and other stakeholders.
- Experience of leading change and innovation in a service delivery context.

The salary range for this role is $78,500 - $97,000 prorated per annum.
