**Job Description**:
Our Buying Chapter is a big part of driving sales and commercial success and we’re looking for a Buyer/Category Manager (Buying Chapter Member) with technical expertise in green gardening to take ownership - cultivate, tend and achieve growth in our category

This role is exciting, complex and challenging - work with a short lifecycle product, creating strategies, selecting a compelling product range, negotiating competitive pricing and delivering customer-driven category and promotional plans, delivering the financial outcomes whilst creating value and excitement for our customers. You’ll understand the intricacies of working with a living product range, creating and implementing buy plans and sell through management to ensure solid delivery on sales and the bottom line.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Building and growing strong commercial relationships with plant suppliers across NZ.
- Working closely with both suppliers and store operations to ensure quality is maintained throughout the products lifecycle through order planning and correct care in store.
- Planning and delivery of activations of a green gardening range
- Deep-diving into sales data, analysing trends, and drawing actionable insights.
- Regularly reporting findings to stakeholders, providing valuable information that shapes our business strategies.

**Qualifications**:
This role is critical to our success. We are looking for someone with:

- Extensive multi-store retail buying/category management experience within the retail industry
- Experience in either fresh produce buying from a supermarket environment, or proven horticultural experience will be highly beneficial
- Strong financial and commercial acumen
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
- Thrive working in a cross-functional environment
- Decisiveness in a fast-moving environment
- A strong drive and the right attitude to develop growth in this category
