The Engineering Director - Platform, Architecture, and Security plays an important role leading and managing platform and SRE delivery team(s) enabling other teams to build, deploy and manage services in our cloud infrastructure. You will provide leadership, coaching and support to ensure that we utilize best practices and provide high availability of robust services and solutions for our organization.

Working with other leaders, you not only support teams in defining and delivering systems, solutions and technology roadmaps, but also ensure teams are supported and enabled to continuously deliver working software to our customers.

As a leader with deep SRE/DevOps and Cloud skills (primarily Azure but also Amazon), you are expected to work with other Engineering Directors, architects, team leads, product managers, analysts, engineers, and quality analysts to create a steady stream of work aligned to product priorities. You will also work with colleagues from support, implementation, sales, and product, to ensure that our systems and services are operational 24x7 and that engineering teams are enabled to deliver amazing outcomes for our customers.

Whilst being capable of being hands-on, the intent is for you to coach team members through these processes and to develop the skills to be able to operate with limited oversight. You lead through alignment to a common objective and empower your teams to make decisions for themselves instead of relying on command and control to make teams comply with handed down decisions.

You will play a meaningful role as a People Leader and change agent, driving high employee engagement and coaching and mentoring your team members.

You will be responsible for leading the effort to modernize Cin7’s Azure platform, taking advantage of cloud native functionality, owning (and improving) Cin7’s engineering practices. This role provides the opportunity to become one of the leading Azure DevOps/SRE resources in New Zealand. Cin7 has a strong partnership with Microsoft.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the delivery of Cin7’s cloud ecosystem including infrastructure, security, data and 3rd Party integrations and services.
- In collaboration with key stakeholders, build and maintain a thoughtful platform engineering roadmap that delivers maximum value to Cin7 customers and is aligned to the company strategy.
- Owns the execution of the platform roadmap, including Infrastructure and Security and Third Parties
- Measure, maintain and improve the productivity, quality and effectiveness of Cin7’s SRE and Data functions including defining and proactively monitoring SLOs and SLAs.
- Design and lead value-added delivery processes and practices, such as Continuous Delivery, across the portfolio with an agile approach and mindset.
- Use key delivery metrics effectively to continuously improve the performance and quality of the team using Agile and Lean methodologies (amongst others).
- Work with product management / product managers to define and decompose product roadmaps.
- Provide inspirational leadership to platform/SRE teams ensuring optimal team engagement and productivity.
- Coach and mentor your direct reports in their careers and development of their skills, encouraging a strong focus on performance through regular feedback, coaching and managing the performance review process for your direct reports as required.

**Key Competencies**:

- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, and/or 10 years industry experience preferred
- Proven leadership of highly skilled engineering teams in a line management capacity with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in product engineering teams.
- Proven track record in leading SRE and platform teams, leading best practice in managing complex cloud infrastructure and deployment. Specifically Microsoft Azure experience.
- Experience working in complex system architectures
- In-depth experience of building for, deploying to, managing PAAS solutions such as Azure and AWS
- Strong and demonstrable technical ability to work with developers, quality assurance specialists, business analysts and product owners and while the role does not require the ability to code, the ability to work with, coach, mentor and lead by example for all roles within a group.
- Demonstrated experience in driving continual improvement of the Product Development lifecycle, ensuring there is strong alignment to business outcomes
