As the HR Director at dentsu Aotearoa, you’ll be joining a high performing team and a global dentsu community of over 70,000 in over 145 countries.

What your role and typical day might look like

The mission of the HR Director is to help build the culture, capabilities and organisational model required for today and tomorrow. The role is also to provide expert HR and commercial knowledge to partner strategically with the business, aligning business values and strategy, to achieve commercial goals through the delivery and implementation of people strategies.

The role is generalist in and works in close partnership with Australia and the global dentsu organisation. We’re small, agile, collaborative and a whole lot of fun, the role will partner closely with the expert network and will be hands on in nature while equally providing leadership to the People Team and HR expertise to our leaders. You will hone your skills in administration, project management, organisational thinking, conscientiousness, analytical thinking, legal processes, and multi-tasking.

Responsibilities could include
- Strategy | Development and delivery of market/client group HR strategy, leading the communication, implementation and measurement of key people and technology initiatives.
- Connect | Builds people partnerships across the New Zealand and global dentsu network. Act as a confidante, coach and constructive challenger to stakeholders to be a force for good for our people, community and clients.
- People & Talent | utilising our framework to develop the career journeys and succession planning across dentsu and provide unique opportunities to build experience and skills.
- Commercial awareness | Develops a robust understanding of business financial performance and commercials. Has a clear understanding of the organizational capabilities and how best to develop those capabilities through the HR strategy.
- Change Management | Leads and/or supports business leaders in key organisational change management initiatives (M&A’s, organisational change, business process re-engineering, reorganisations, and reward and recognition).
- Employee Relations | Solves key employee issues which might pose a significant risk to the business and organization. Supportive figure to lead performance development initiatives and enablement.
- Engagement | Champions our values to create a diverse and inclusive workplace, acting on HR initiatives and insights that will drive change to be a force for good for our people to be their best selves.

A bit about you
- Proven experience in a HR Manager, Business Partner and/or HR Director role
- Experience with Professional Services industry i.e. Advertising, Media, Creative, Marketing, Technology and/or Consulting will be highly beneficial
- A degree/Masters in HR would be highly beneficial but not mandatory
- People leadership, managing a small team and unafraid to get hands on as a HR Practitioner, particularly on ER and legal matters.
- Practical, pragmatic, driven and resilient with high emotional intelligence
- Confident, ambitious, highly professional and visible, able to interact easily at all levels
- Positive, dynamic, enthusiastic; capable of maintaining a high level of energy and team spirit, high learning agility
