**He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role**

If you have previously worked with disabled people and their families, or have lived experience of disability, have a relevant qualification and are passionate about working in the community with a strong focus on empowering people to live a good life, please consider this role supporting disabled people and their whānau in the Bay of Plenty/Lakes region.

The role involves meeting with disabled people/ Tangata Whaikaha and their whānau to talk about what a good life looks like for them and to allocate support to minimise disabling barriers to their good life.

This role is for 40 hours per week, based in Tauranga, although there could be some flexibility for the right person, both in hours worked and work location. It will likely be based from the Tauranga office, but there may be options to be based in Whakatāne or Rotorua.

**He korero mōu - About You**

You will have a good understanding of the principles of Enabling Good Lives and be able to demonstrate experience in roles where you have supported people who may experience discrimination or marginalisation to live their best live. Click here for further information.

It will be advantageous, but not essential, that you have some understanding of how the Whaikaha Disability Support System works and, in particular, eligibility criteria.

You will need to be able to lead conversations with disabled people to support them and their whānau to develop plans for living a good life. A good knowledge of the communities in our rohe, and the supports and services within these communities is essential.

Specific experience in the disability sector is advantageous but not essential, but experience in a rights-based role will be useful.

People who whakapapa to this rohe and those with lived experience of disability are particularly encouraged to apply, even if you feel you may not meet all the above criteria.
