You will be managing all New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) facilities within the Wellington region as part of the Defence Estate and Infrastructure (DEI). This role manages a wide range of leased and owned locations and properties, ranging from Wellington Airport to Trentham Military Camp, and with the potential to oversee other regions when needed.

**Duties for this role will include**:

- Providing asset and contract management of NZDF locations;
- Reporting on performance, future planning, risk identification and quality control;
- Managing financial delegations, including planning and budgeting;
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including landlords and users;
- Responding to enquires and arranging repairs and maintenance as required; and
- Promoting DEI best practices and providing wider team support as needed.

**Please Note**: The formal title for this role within NZDF is Site Manager.

You will be a highly organised, self-driven person with a commitment to excellence, great attention to detail, and exceptional planning and problem solving skills. With the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation, you need to be able to articulate all technical requirements, while staying agile to changing priorities and ability to push back as required.

**To be successful in the role, you will also need**:

- At least 5 years' experience in facilities management, maintenance or within a relevant trade industry;
- Experience managing financial delegations, including contract management, budgeting and processing invoices;
- Effective and professional communication skills, both written and verbal, including ability to draft and review documentation;
- The confidence to work autonomously, as well as part of the wider team.

**Please note**: A clean, full time driver's license is essential for the role due to travel requirements around the Wellington Region.

The Defence Estate and Infrastructure's purpose is to develop, maintain and manage land, property and infrastructure assets in order to support NZDF military capabilities and all of government outcomes, through the Defence Estate Regeneration Programme. The Defence estate comprises over 80,000ha of land with infrastructure and buildings. Defence Estate and Infrastructure is gearing up for major reinvestment and recapitalisation work over the coming years to 2025.
The Estate Delivery unit is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery for estate, property and related infrastructure and is the enabler of NZDF delivery to the Estate. It will be the key delivery manager of a $4 billon dollar estate spread across nine geographic locations.
