We need an experienced Senior DevSecOps Engineer to join our Information Services Trade team.
The Trade team develops, maintains and improves a portfolio of ICT products built and supported in-house, which underpin New Zealand's flow of imports and exports. Our roadmap is ambitious with immediate and future demand.
This permanent role in our Information Services (IS) group is based in the Wellington Customhouse. If you're interested and don't live in Wellington, contact us to see if remote working could be viable.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
Every plane and ship entering or leaving New Zealand must be reported to Customs, along with the cargo they carry. We operate sophisticated systems to process trade transactions, collect revenue, assess risks, prevent social harm and capture essential data for government, all while making it fast and easy for lawful traders.
The Trade team, along with two other teams (Travel and Protection) make up the Border Tower within the wider Information Services group.
We ideally need someone who
- has good knowledge of relevant software development topics, including development languages, databases, methodologies, DevOps, build pipelines, automation and cloud concepts
- has an understanding of other related areas such as UX design, product development, networking, security compliance and capacity management
- is experienced in designing and developing in Java, JavaScript, NodeJS and preferably React, with solid knowledge of SDLC
- has experience in Linux and GitLab and familiarity with Azure, Kubernetes and Docker
- is committed to coaching and mentoring other developers in Agile and DevSecOps practices, and ensuring high quality documentation and team collaboration
- takes ownership for DevSecOps' full lifecycle, ensuring the services that our team provides and supports deliver real value to our customers
- is keen to give back, open to sharing their skills and expertise to grow the team and wider IS group
- gives attention to detail, applies critical analysis and has strong problem-solving skills.
