**Whakapuakanga Tangata Haere ki Aotearoa | New Zealand Traveller Declaration**

The New Zealand Traveller Declaration (NZTD) is the new digital form used to collect information from travellers arriving into Aotearoa New Zealand via air and sea. It helps us ensure that people are only bringing in what they should be into our country; improving the safety and security of New Zealand.

To help us achieve this inter-agency vision, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated DevSecOps Engineer to join our newly established NZTD team. We are looking for an experienced individual who can actively help us maintain highly available, high-secure services whilst continuously improving the product and delivering value for our customers and stakeholders.

**Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role**

Embedded in the NZTD Tower, the DevSecOps Engineer will actively help us maintain highly available, high-secure services whilst continuously improving the product and delivering value for our customers and stakeholders.

This role creates and supports high-quality platform services in collaboration across IS, to deliver services to border officers across multiple agencies and to the travellers themselves. Our roadmap is ambitious with immediate and future demand.

The focus for this role will be on supporting and enhancing the NZTD technologies and platforms which are mostly built around Azure technologies. You will be taking an automate-first approach to building and configuring pipelines, managing services such as APIM, Azure Service Business, Kubernetes, ELK and using tools such as Powershell and Terraform.

As a true DevSecOps role, besides the development aspects, this role requires the engineer to have strong focus on security and operational support, ensuring that the product is always adhering to ever evolving security requirements, and responding to security risk and operational issues in a timely manner.

**To be successful as DevSecOps Engineer the following knowledge, experience, skills and personal attributes are required**:

- Strong hands-on experience configuring, troubleshooting and automating Azure services
- Driven to automate tasks, ensure what you create not only delivers the desired functionality but is secure, sustainable and cost-effective
- Passion for continuous learning, keeping up-to-date with latest best practices and technology standards with the desire and personal drive to keep challenging themselves to grow and deliver valued services for travellers and our border staff
- Ownership for DevSecOps' full lifecycle, covering development, operational management and incident support, while maintain the security and cost effectiveness of all services
- Focus on quality to minimize risk and impact on our stakeholders and thereby reducing the need to fix incident management enabling more time for value add services
- Ideally has (but not essential) familiarity with Agile and ITIL methodologies.
