**About the role**

As a Design Planner/Estimator, you will join our Underground Projects team to support the reliable, efficient and safe operation of our distribution network by providing specialised technical advice, structured planning and estimation support for the construction and maintenance of our network assets.

Combining the technical planning and distribution design skills, this role will deliver detailed planning and cost estimation for WEL’s infrastructure in the annual programme of work. You will offer technical guidance and support internally as well as liaising and engaging with a variety of other stakeholders.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide structured planning and estimation for WEL Networks core asset programme of work
- Conduct constructability reviews of designs
- Work with Asset Management Network Management System and SysCon experts to present switching and isolation plans for approval and activation
- Provide technical guidance within WEL Services
- Work with colleagues and managers in lifting and promoting good technical practices
- Identify, address, or escalate issues where bottlenecks are occurring in workflows, and contribute as a team player in all allocated projects
- Contribute to the continuous improvement culture through targeted process improvements

**Skills and Experience**:

- A recognised, relevant trade qualification
- 2 years post qualifying relevant technical experience
- 2 years’ experience in a distribution network environment
- Appropriate current registration is desirable
- Experience in the use of SAP or similar software is desirable
