A young boy in Onehunga is not your average 10-year-old, he’s incredibly clever, full of life, and has a heart as big as his smile. He loves meeting new people, dancing to his favourite tunes, playing with hair, and making sure everyone at the supermarket knows exactly how to pack their bags. He’s social, affectionate, and always ready for an adventure.

He just needs a little extra support. He has delayed speech and a unique way of communicating, he points, gestures, and uses the words he has to make himself understood. He thrives on routine and predictability, and when things don’t go as expected, he sometimes needs a helping hand to navigate his emotions. That’s where you come in.

We’re looking for a kind, upbeat, and reliable person to spend weekend mornings with him, giving him the one-on-one support he needs to enjoy his favourite activities. From 8 AM to 12 PM on Saturdays and Sundays, you’ll help him with morning tea and lunch, take him on outings to the playground, pools, or shops, and assist with personal care, including toileting and nappies. Before you go home, you’ll settle him down for his nap, making sure he’s comfortable and happy.

No two mornings will be the same, he loves to be out and about, saying hello to everyone, and soaking up the world around him. He’s mobile, but for longer trips, he has a wheelchair to make things easier. If you have your own car, great If not, a mobility van is available.

This isn’t just a job; it’s a chance to be part of his world, to build a bond with a bright and affectionate child who will light up your day. You don’t need prior experience with disabilities his mum will provide all the training you need. What matters most is that you’re patient, fun, and ready to embrace the little moments that make a big difference in his life.

The role starts ASAP, with an hourly rate of $30. There’s also potential for extra hours during school holidays, sick cover, or annual leave cover.
