The purpose of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) group is to work in partnership with the rest of the organisation to provide digital technology and communications solutions that support excellence in policing and service delivery and, enable Police’s strategic ambitions.

Increasingly technology is playing a pivotal role in policing and the demand for new or improved digital services is high. To position Police well for the future, we have recently embarked on a significant change to the way we approach technology delivery and as a result have three new Director roles to fill on the ICT Senior Leadership Team.

The Director Corporate Products is strategic leader accountable for ensuring the continuous evolution of the Products within the Corporate Portfolio to meet the needs of Police. The Corporate Portfolio spans the capabilities that are used across the enterprise including People & Finance, Data & Analytics and Productivity & Collaboration. The Director will build and maintain a clear view of the current and emerging technology landscape for their portfolio as it applies to NZ Police.

They engage and build trust with internal customers, including key members of the Police Executive, to understand their current and emerging requirements as well as technology vendors, to align and influence vendor roadmaps, ensure commercial alignment, communicate change and identify opportunities for innovation within NZ Police.

This role is a member of the ICT Senior Leadership Team and participates in enterprise governance decisions and represents ICT to external all-of-government forums as appropriate. It is expected they maintain an understanding of emerging technology in their unique area and therefore works across technology vendors, allies and partners to maintain strategic advantage. It is accountable for the production of Product Roadmaps working closely with the business and the Strategy and Enablement group. They ensure that the ways of working within the portfolio are agile and enable rapid service delivery whilst also being aligned to the ways of working of other Portfolios and the collective quarterly planning.

- Drive delivery of outcomes whilst building strong internal and external relationships - by aligning and empowering all stakeholders
- Increase the understanding of and cohesion with the vision for ICT - by helping internal stakeholders, process partners and operational staff to understand our ‘why’ and to navigate and realise the future.
- Demonstrate strong and inclusive leadership taking a unified approach across ICT functions to achieve our strategy - working together to achieve common goals
