The Opportunity

Reporting into the Project Controls Manager, this role will sit within the Civil business - a division of Fulton Hogan specialising in infrastructure construction, based around reinforced concrete. We are currently delivering work ranging from bridges and wharves to water treatment plants, storage tanks and pipelines throughout New Zealand.

As the Project Controls Engineer, you will be heavily involved in the process and tools used to plan, manage and mitigate cost, as well as scheduling issues and any risk events that may impacts on our projects.

Your key responsibilities will include:
Planning, Scheduling and Project Reporting
- Scope management;
- Project deliverables;
- Schedule management & Forecasting
- What-if scenarios, corrective action and trend analysis;
- Time and Location graphs and analysis;
- Progress measurement, Productivity Analysis & Calculation;
- Earned value & Key indices reporting;

Cost Engineering and Estimating
- Estimating;
- Quantity Take-Offs, Adjudications, Topsheets;
- Cost management; Valuations, Earned Value calcs;
- Cost control Analysis. Forecasting and cashflows

Change Management and Controls
- Change order control and trend analysis;
- Cost Engineering & Estimating;
- Variations or Scope Changes and analysis

Risk and Delay Claims
- Risk Assessment & Management;
- Delay Claims - Quantification methods “measured Mile”, “Earned value”, “Program Analysis”;
- Forensic Schedule Analysis:
Procurement Management
- Appointments of Sub-Contractors and Suppliers;
- Adjudications, Escalation and certification & payments

General
- Assist the Civil or National Project Controls Manager with any other task deemed necessary and required to ensure the successful outcome of the project.
- Ensuring constant improvement/ innovation our Project Controls Systems.

Key to this role will be your ability to work with a wide range of key stakeholders, with multiple projects on the go at the same time.

This is a permanent, full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week. We are looking for someone based in Auckland; you may also be required to travel to other locations within NZ for this role.

What you’ll bring to the table
- 12 - 15 years’ experience in civil construction with sub-contractor, supplier and tender management experience
- A relevant Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering
- Analytical, negotiation and relationship skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of contract management, performance reporting and budget preparation
- Sound knowledge of computer programmes such as CCS, Microsoft Suite & JDE
- Construction Technical Skills or have the ability to pick this up rapidly
- Interpretation of drawings and associated material
- Knowledge of productivities, construction sequencing and costs
- Construction Management
- Understanding of cost, time, procurement and risk management
- A commitment to Health and Safety
