Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
The Principal Advisor Programme and Project Management contributes thought leadership and expertise to frameworks, strategies, work programmes and complex system issues to support the achievement of outcomes aligned to the Ministry's purpose and agreed strategies.
As a P3M Specialist within Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | the Ministry of Education you will:

- Share specialist knowledge across the organisation and with stakeholders, working with others to inform operational level decision making.
- Assist the Practice Lead Project and Programme Management (PPM) to re-develop the Ministry Delivery Framework for P3M using past framework experience to help guide and steer the development work.
- Contribute to an effective team with a positive approach to the work environment that encourages and supports high performance, collaboration and problem solving.
- Lead the resolution of issues, identifying risks and solutions to protect and enhance the integrity and reputation of the Ministry.
- Lead or contribute to the development and implementation of innovative and fit-for purpose solutions and frameworks for current and future challenges.
- Build capability in others through coaching, quality assurance, and proactively sharing knowledge and expertise.

You will make decisions in accordance with the Ministry's policies and delegations framework.

Mōhou ake | About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following experience:

- Senior-level experience with P3M frameworks and processes, and investment management good practices.
- Experience in developing and implementing P3M frameworks and, delivering and preparing reports and proposals for a wide range of audiences, is advantageous.
- Experience working in a PMO or EPMO in a complex organisation is advantageous.
- Project or Programme Management knowledge via experience in a like role (eg Project Manager, Programme Manager or Senior Advisor roles).
- Experience developing and maintaining robust relationships across the business including senior managers, PMOs, programme and project teams, to achieve joint outcomes.
- Relevant specialist tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent level of practical experience is required.
- Experience developing and maintaining robust relationships with all parts of the business including senior managers, PMOs, programmes and projects.
- Ability to rise above strategic challenge, overview and scrutiny and ensuring alignment with wider policy and strategic initiatives.

To be successful in this role you will have the following capabilities and competencies:

- PRINCE2 and MSP Practitioner with a working knowledge of Agile methodologies, or equivalent experience.
- Project or Programme Management knowledge via experience in a like role (eg Project Manager, Programme Manager or Senior Advisor roles).
