Auckland City, New Zealand Auckland Council Full time

**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**
Join the Eke Panuku Development Auckland team in a key role to realise our vision: "Creating Amazing Places.

Communicating and engaging local communities and key decision-makers is a vital part of urban regeneration. This opportunity will support our mission to rejuvenate significant parts of urban Auckland - from small projects that refresh a site or building, to major transformations of town centres or neighbourhoods. We are creators, curators, and caretakers. Eke Panuku is building Auckland’s future.

We’re looking for a full-time, permanent **Senior Communications and Engagement Advisor** to join our Communications and Engagement team.

You will have a proven track record of being a trusted advisor to senior colleagues across both communications and public engagement disciplines. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of communications and engagement strategies and action plans that integrate a range of disciplines from media relations to Māori engagement. Our communications support our work to bring more high-quality homes, public spaces, connections, and vibrancy to specific neighbourhoods in Auckland: Takapuna, Northcote, Onehunga and Panmure.

Reporting to the Head of Communications and Engagement, this role works collaboratively with a wider, high-performing team that will support you to collectively ensure locals are informed about the positive change we are making in some of Auckland’s most loved neighbourhoods.

With good project management skills and a solid understanding of the tools and techniques needed to engage people through innovative strategies, you will be able to support project teams to deliver on time and on budget. With a finely tuned risk and opportunity radar, you will be able to identify and mitigate risks early or identify and maximise storytelling opportunities where available.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**
You are:

- Curious - You’re inquisitive about our city and its many neighbourhoods, the many disciplines required to best serve our communities and urban regeneration
- Relationship-led - You have the skills to build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with a wide range of people from your priority location director to politicians, internal stakeholders, to community groups
- Strategic - You’re able to identify any issues and risks, and build plans to leverage or mitigate them

You have:

- 7 - 10 years’ experience in strategic communications and engagement planning and delivery at senior advisor or advisor level
- Experience in or exposure to an account/relationship management environment
- Experience with communications and engagement tools, techniques, and channels
- Related specialist skills, e.g., marketing, public relations, change communications, event management
- Proven ability to build relationships with people at all levels and previous exposure to successfully working in a collaborative/matrix environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of te ao Māori and promote tikanga and te reo Māori
- Knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector

**Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer**
We’re visionaries leading the way in sustainable urban development. You’ll join a team embracing diversity with a culture built on its people spirit. Our salaries are competitive, we love flexible working and we’re all here to inspire one another. This is your chance to make a positive contribution to the future of Tāmaki Makaurau.

In return for your hard work, you can expect a flexible and supportive work environment. Ehara taku toa, he takitahi, he toa takitini - My success is not mine alone, but the success of many. We aim to have a fun workplace where people have opportunities to learn and grow.

You’ll have access to a range of fantastic Auckland Council benefits, including discounted Leisure Centre membership and a range of other partnership discounts
