**Job Title**

**Environmental and Compliance Engineer**

Reporting to: Owner/Director

**Purpose**
- To develop, maintain and execute systems for all business operation compliance requirements, now and in the future.
- To develop, maintain and execute strategy and systems for the company to achieve environmental performance leadership in the horticulture industry

**Specific duties & responsibilities**

**Coordinate, manage and monitor the daily environmental and compliance operations relating to Berry Production including growing and infrastructure.**
- Execute day-to-day compliance requirements across the business
- Develop a long-term environmental and compliance strategy for all aspects of the business, including, but not limited to:

- Resource usage
- Water
- Fertiliser
- Energy
- Packaging
- Machine usage
- Production environmental certification (spray-free, carbon neutrality)
- Assist with gaining of consent for all works required inside the berry operation
- Monitor and ensure consent on going criteria are achieved in a timely manner
- Actively improve processes and policies across the business
- Investigate, develop and implement automated systems to monitor and record compliance requirements

**Compliance**.
- Development, implement and manage necessary company QA and Health and Safety policies
- Develop and maintain systems to achieve all food regulation certifications required for domestic and international supply

**Financial Reporting**
- Manage environmental and compliance budget
- Investigate and demonstrate the financial benefits of environmental performance to the business

**Relationships**
- Develop and maintain relationships with key personnel within suppliers and distribution partners to ensure effective communication and working relations.
- Assist management team as required, to ensure the company performs in the most cost and time efficient and effective manner at an operational level.
- Contribute openly and freely in discussions to ensure that we remain a knowledgeable, innovative and diverse team, committed to growing as individuals and a business.
- Actively promote a strong team culture across the company.

**General Duties & Responsibilities**

**Skills, Experience & Education**
- Proven history in environmental or regulation/compliance fields
- Recognised high-level formal qualification (Bachelor or similar)
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Demonstrated achievements in service delivery, cost management, team leadership, quality and process improvement.
- A demonstrated ability to respond effectively to change and to raise performance standards as changes in the environment create opportunities to do so.
- Good planning and problem-solving skills and ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Strong computer and analytical skills.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

**Education**:

- Bachelor Degree (preferred)

**Experience**:

- environmental: 4 years (required)
