**Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role**

**The Principal Advisor, Engagement Lead** is a newly established, fixed-term role which will sit within the Office of the Hautū, Te Poutāhū | The Curriculum Centre. As a key member of this team, they will provide direct support to the Hautū (Deputy Secretary), Group Manager, and collaborate with teams across the group to achieve strategic and operational objectives and to build a great working culture and environment.

**Mōhou ake | About you**

To be successful in the role:

- You will have experience leading, developing, and implementing responsive, inclusive, strategic engagement plans and work programmes which align to organisational strategy and priorities.
- You will be able to design and facilitate in-person and online forums to build engagement and embed organisational strategy, values, and ways of working.
- You will have experience working collaboratively with key internal stakeholders, as well as developing trusting relationships at senior management levels.
- You will also ideally have some experience designing resources, activities, and initiatives to uplift engagement and staff development and to support the ongoing capability development of Te Poutāhū staff.
- You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

**You will also demonstrate a proven ability to**:

- Lead the resolution of issues, identifying risks and solutions to protect and enhance the integrity and reputation of the Ministry.
- Contribute to an effective team with a positive approach to the work environment that encourages and supports high performance, collaboration and problem solving.

**Mātau rōpū ake | About our ministry, group, and team**

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau. To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.

Te Poutāhū is known and trusted as the leader of the national curricula for Aotearoa New Zealand and associated systems and processes of assessment and aromatawai. We lead the design, development and provision of curriculum services for teachers, kaiako, leaders, ākonga, their whānau and communities that reflects their identities, languages and cultures.
