**Āu Mahi | What You Will Do**
We are a large and complex organisation, so no two-days are the same Reporting to the Governance & Compliance Manager and working with the Senior Leadership Team, you will enable your portfolio to operationalise the UC strategy. By building trusted relationships, you will support the team to provide strategic direction and to manage, develop and maintain processes and best practice documentation regarding the development, maintenance, review and promulgation (including education) of university policy documents. The term 'policy documents' includes University policies, statutes, regulations and procedures.

**Mōu | Who You Are**
We are looking for someone with diverse experience leading and managing a complex policy suite, who will be developing innovative, practical and durable policy options. Previous legal and policy drafting experience is essential with at least 7 years' experience in a large organisation, preferably in a tertiary or public sector organisation. You will also have the following:

- Exceptional ability to draft and review complex policy documentation
- Innovative, analytical, and conceptual thinking skills
- Knowledge and experience of policy management principles and practices
- Proven ability to build effective and trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, curiosity, flexibility, and openness
- Commitment to contributing to the development of the Policy Unit's capability, culture and experience in supporting senior leaders to build quality policy documentation

**Mahi Ngātahi | Who You Will Work With**
The General Counsel/Registrar is responsible for the legal function at UC as well as overseeing governance support, information management, policy and compliance.
