**About the role**:
Reporting to our General Manager Supply Chain and based in Christchurch (Hornby), as a result of a recent internal promotion we have a new opportunity to join Westland/YOBD as our Head of Direct Procurement. Working as part of a wider procurement team with responsibility for managing the direct procurement portfolio functions at a group level across all YOBD entities, this role will give you exposure at all levels of this dynamic and growing group, where your procurement expertise, guidance, and decision-making will be a critical part of our continued success.

More specifically responsibilities will include:

- Conducting best practice direct procurement activities to deliver the most cost-effective results, compliance, and best quality across YOBD
- Lead and facilitate direct procurement processes with each business unit advising on procurement plans, preparing effective negotiations, and the delivery of contractual agreements
- Effective direct supplier management including supplier approval and day to day supplier performance management
- Working closely with the wider procurement team, continually improving a robust and efficient procurement strategy and roadmap to support the company's overall strategy
- Providing motivational leadership and development to the direct procurement team

**Applicants will ideally possess**:

- Proven practical experience in a procurement leadership role, ideally supported by a relevant tertiary/CIPS qualification
- A proven track record of driving cost reduction initiatives and achieving significant savings through strategic sourcing, effective negotiation, and innovative procurement strategies, while maintaining high-quality standards and supplier performance
- Proven experience managing the entire procurement lifecycle for complex manufacturing procurement activities, including planning, sourcing, RFP processes, negotiation, contract management, and supplier performance evaluation
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across a large and complex group, collaborating with multiple internal departments to achieve procurement objectives
- Exceptional relationship building abilities together with superior written and verbal communication skills
- Well-developed commercial acumen together with excellent negotiation and influencing skills
- Strong leadership attributes with the ability to develop a high performing and engaged team
