The Ministry of Justice is growing its Digital Security team and has an opportunity for a passionate security team player and self-starter to be part of this exciting journey. The Digital Security team is critical to maintaining the Ministry's ICT security strategy, standards and processes. We are responsible for the security of the Ministry's data and information systems and services. We ensure these are deployed, innovated, maintained and operated in line with industry best practice standards to meet the security requirements of the Ministry. We provide security operations, product and architecture expertise and support to our workstream and business stakeholders.
The ICT Security Architect provides support to the IT Security Manager in providing ICT and information security expertise and enabling security technologies within the Digital Office. You will be responsible for the definition of security architecture strategy, roadmaps and solutions for the Ministry. You will ensure that these meet business needs and comply with Ministry and government policies and standards and are aligned to the enterprise architecture, technology governance and industry best practice. This role will offer you the opportunity to work collaboratively with a variety of technical and business stakeholders to innovate the Ministry's security capabilities.
Ngā kawenga matua/Key Responsibilities
Develop and own the security enterprise architecture strategy and roadmap
- Establish and maintain the security architecture backlog
- Work closely with the IT Security Manager, Security Operations Lead, Service Managers and Architecture Practice consisting of Enterprise Architect, Portfolio Architects and Solution Architects to develop security architecture strategy, roadmaps and requirements
- Engage with the Service delivery teams to provide security architecture roadmap input into their roadmaps and backlogs throughout the service delivery lifecycle
- Work closely with the Solution Architects during planning and delivery cycles to ensure that the security architecture roadmap capabilities are being delivered successfully
- Deliver security by design by providing design review and input as part of the Ministry's technology governance process
- Work closely with the Security Risk and Assurance team to ensure compliance to the Ministry's Certification and Accreditation process
- Work collaboratively with the different delivery teams to identify and unblock any dependencies as required
He pūkenga tōu/Skills and Experience
- Proven experience working as a Security Architect, Senior Security Engineer (or similar role) in large and complex organisations
- Ability to translate strategic goals and roadmaps into architecture requirements and designs
- Ability to design security control solutions across all architecture domains (Application, Data, Technology and Integration)
- Good understanding of the following cloud technologies and platforms:
- Microsoft Azure
- Microsoft 365
- Amazon Web Services
- Knowledge of security standards such as NZISM, PSR, PCI-DSS or ISO27001
- Good understanding of latest cyber security principles, standards, frameworks, guidelines, techniques and threats
- Ability to articulate ideas and facilitate discussions and meetings towards achievable outcomes
- Ability to write and communicate well and build effective working relationships with a wide range of business and technical stakeholders
- A team player and self-starter with a strong desire to learn
- Tertiary degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience, including technical qualifications and certifications in ICT security and architecture
