We have been BUZZed and seeking an up-and-coming Sommelier to join the team at an upmarket venue known, for its exceptional wine offerings. As a Sommelier, you will work closely with engaged customers, curate an exquisite wine list, and collaborate with wineries to ensure an exceptional wine experience for their customers. BUZZing??

Key Responsibilities:
Wine Selection and Curation:

- Develop and maintain a thoughtfully curated wine list, aligning with the venue's vision, target clientele, and menu offerings.
- Continuously explore new wines, emerging trends, and rare vintages to enhance the venue's wine offerings.
- Conduct regular tastings and evaluations to assess wine quality, ensuring excellence and consistency

Wine Service and Customer Engagement:

- Provide expert advice and guidance to customers, assisting them in selecting wines that complement their preferences and menu choices.
- Enhance customers' overall dining experience by offering detailed information about wine regions, grape varieties, production methods, and food pairings.
- Foster engaging and personalised interactions with customers, building relationships, and generating repeat business.

Collaborations with Wineries and Suppliers:

- Cultivate strong relationships with wineries, distributors, and suppliers to source unique and exclusive wines for the venue.
- Negotiate and manage contracts, pricing, and inventory with wineries, ensuring optimal product availability and competitive pricing.
- Organise winemaker events, tastings, and winery visits to enhance staff and customer knowledge about featured wines.

Staff Training and Education:

- Conduct regular wine training sessions for staff members, ensuring their understanding of the wine list, service techniques, and customer engagement.
- Keep the staff informed about new wine arrivals, changes in the wine list, and relevant industry updates.
- Act as a mentor and resource for junior staff members, guiding their professional development in the field of wine.

Wine Cellar Management:

- Oversee the proper storage and organisation of the venue's wine cellar, ensuring optimal conditions for wine preservation and aging.
- Implement inventory management systems, monitor stock levels, and coordinate with the management team to maintain a balanced and profitable wine program.
- Assist in pricing strategies and contribute to the development of promotional wine events and packages.

You will have experience as a Sommelier or similar wine-focused role, preferably in an upscale or fine dining establishment and be WSET qualified. An attractive salary package, option for a 4 day working week ( Wednesday-Saturday) and personal development allowance should get you BUZZIng
