**Use your actuarial product and pricing skills to help drive the New Zealand and wider Asia Pacific performance**
**About the role**
In Allianz Partners, we have a line of business (LoB) strategy driven by one global organisation with regional hubs. For the Travel LoB, our mission is to drive Travel business strategy and performance to deliver the most compelling end-to-end travel protection products and services. Within Asia, the strategy is to manage profitability and manage the travel rebound, with key regional focus on the largest markets; Australia, New Zealand, China and India. We want to rationalise operations and expenses and to be more disciplined as we activate the sales pipeline.
Based in Auckland, this role will play an important part within our regional hub. The exciting opportunity exists for an experienced, strategic and forward thinking Product and Pricing Actuary/Underwriter to join our team. Reporting to the Head of Underwriting Travel LOB, Asia Pacific, this position will:
- Prepare policies and other product terms and conditions, ensuring commercial contracts reflect agreed pricing and underwriting approaches,
- Undertake pricing activity for all products and clients for the travel line of business,
- Take ownership of relationships and projects, and take an active part in guiding and steering the performance of the portfolio and as part of that will inform appropriate pricing strategies to enable Asia Pacific to meet long-term profit targets,
- Proactively identify opportunities to support profitable growth; and provide support for the business through timely delivery of services, including product development and pricing,
- Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the performance of products and contracts offered by the business unit,
- Provide advice and tools that enable execution of these strategies and support in the monitoring of outcomes,
- Ensure underwriting rigor and discipline to ensure that business financial targets are met,
- Work closely with BU Executive teams to provide them the necessary support and framework to run a profitable business,
- Ensure full compliance, routine reviews and reporting are adhered to.
As a regional standalone role, you will be managing multiple Asia Pacific markets, and ideally be able to adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the various time-zones ranging from 9am - 9:00pm. You will enjoy working within an international environment and with a team of diverse skill sets. Moreover, you will work closely with various Underwriting, Claims, Sales and Pricing teams to challenge and incorporate their input and to present and explain your analysis and findings. Working in a fast paced and complex environment, you will be responsible for engaging with the business and key stakeholders to ensure all these deliverables are achieved across the region without compromising quality and service. As such, developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, regionally and internationally, is crucial to the success of this role.
**About you**
We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, skilled at engaging with multiple departments, strong ability to influence and build effective relationships both inside and outside the organisation at all levels and driven to take ownership of this role. You will be a natural self-starter, with a strong customer focus, and great facilitation skills. You will demonstrate a high standard of time management and organisation skills while being responsive and adaptive to changing demands and deadlines.
**To be successful in this role**
You will need to demonstrate that you have:
- Senior Product and pricing actuarial experience - with experience in health a big plus (travel experience would be beneficial but not compulsory as this can be learned while in the role),
- Experience of working with colleagues located in different countries advantageous,
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability to identify appropriate solutions for business challenges,
- Experience in developing/enhancing and implementing models/analysis and processes,
- A passion for identifying, structuring and solving pricing-related analytical and processual problems and translating these into actionable recommendations,
- Ability to understand complex strategic and operational topics, to consolidate and evaluate large amounts of information, identify and initiate appropriate actions to remediate issues and follow through on their remediation,
- Specialised understanding of regional / local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape, including global elements would be an advantage,
- Good understanding of legal and regulatory framework,
- Experience working in complex, global matrix organization
