**Te Whiwhinga Mahi| The Opportunity**:
Corporate Affairs at Chorus is looking for someone passionate about the power of communication to join their team.

Instrumental in supporting the Chorus media and engagement initiatives, you will have a nose for a good story, understand all types of media channels, be a strong team player and have the ability to adapt and change to meet the needs of the organisation.

Day to day you will be supporting the wider Corporate Affairs team across a variety of activity spanning traditional news media, social media, community engagement, stakeholder management and government affairs. This will cover:

- Providing regular reports summarising media coverage and trends, with a focus on items of interest to government and community affairs
- Reaching out to reporters to pitch stories or provide information about Chorus
- Supporting responses to media inquiries and coordinate information gathering
- Collaborating with the Media and Content Manager to create content for press and content releases, news articles, and social media updates, ensuring alignment with messaging and branding guidelines
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of a content calendar for various communication channels
- Working with the Brand and Marketing team to help manage our social media accounts, including writing copy, content scheduling and monitoring engagement, where appropriate
- Assisting in coordinating media interviews, briefings, and press conferences
- Supporting the Community Lead by helping arrange community engagement activities and actively participating in community events and other work programs
- Participating in and supporting relevant industry events and conferences
- Contributing to initiatives that foster community engagement and build positive relationships with the local community

This opportunity will suit someone who has had 2-3 years in a communications role (or similar) looking for the next step in their career. You will get back everything you put in so we’re looking for someone with buckets of initiative, to really imagine, create and drive what this role can become.

The most important thing is your attitude - a proactive, self-starter who is hungry to learn - but having the below will be really set you up for success in this role:

- An understanding of current communications and engagement best practice through communications, public relations, stakeholder engagement and/or marketing
- Exposure to working with senior stakeholders and building trust and credibility
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly
- A genuine 'can do' attitude, showing an aptitude for learning
- A positive-spirited and organised multi-tasker
- A great communicator who can juggle deadlines and prides themselves on attention to detail
