We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chief Advisor to join Te Puni Kōkiri, and bring their knowledge and competency of te ao Māori and tikanga, along with their passion for Māori wellbeing and development.
**Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunity**
The Chief Advisor, Strategy is a senior level position that contribute insight and thought leadership to decision making processes and work collaboratively to drive the strategic direction and vision for the puni. The core responsibilities of the team are to support the General Manager, Deputy Secretary and ELT to develop clear strategic direction for Te Puni Kōkiri, informed by insights about strategic performance and the external environment.
You will contribute to the leadership and development of the significant work programmes of the Strategy puni.
The focus of this role is to ensure that the strategy development process is well facilitated and informed by evidence and insight from organisational performance.
**To be successful in this role you will need**:
- A relevant tertiary qualification, or considerable professional experience and standing.
- proven experience in a senior advisory role, preferably including experience at or advising at an executive level.
- experience working with iwi, hapū and whānau Māori.
- demonstrable analytical skills including the evidenced ability to deliver complex numerical and financial information graphically, succinctly, and clearly
- an understanding of the information Ministers require to make decisions, and the ability to provide this information rapidly and accurately
- familiarity with contemporary modelling, analytical and programme management methods and tools
- proven ability to work across an organisation, drawing on resources from multiple puni to activate leadership and delivery on significant projects.
- ability to represent the organisation at a senior level at interagency forums.
- politically aware and comfortable working within the political context.
- intellectual curiosity, creative thinker, able to develop new approaches and solutions.
- ability to plan, organise, monitor and deliver at a strategic level.
- understanding of the machinery of government, including experience in or working with government including Ministerial offices.

We are looking for someone with a reasonable understanding of te ao Māori and tikanga, and comprehension of Te Tiriti o Waitangi's implications for Te Puni Kōkiri.
