**About the team
The Reporting team’s vision is to make complex reporting simple, by creating an enduring platform that is easy to use, easy to learn and supports all customer features. We support both the Reporting Platform and the Customer Features. Our customers are other Xero teams, Small Business customers and Accountants & Bookkeepers. We are based in NZ with the majority of our team in Wellington.

We are looking for an Engineering Team Lead to join our Engineering Leadership team and lead one of our Product teams. You will be managing a group of engineers while directly contributing to the successful outcomes of the team by supporting excellent engineering and delivery practices which enable rapid delivery of high quality software engineering. You will be responsible for supporting your direct reports in becoming awesome Xeros, empowering them to deliver high-quality software to customers and fostering the growth of a world-class engineering culture.

**What you'll do**:

- You’ll engage, understand, collaborate, and communicate effectively with peers and teams across Xero to drive continuous improvement towards Xero’s sustainably excellent engineering vision.
- You’ll help lead your team to successfully identify, scope, manage, and complete work which delivers measurable improvements to production systems in a timely manner.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and build relationships.
- Promote a culture of measurement, data-driven decisions, hypothesis-driven development, and continuous improvement.
- People Manage across different locations
- Attract, recruit, and retain capable people, building on and complementing the diversity of our teams.
- Provide technical coaching, mentoring, and training to people and teams with the tools and practices we use, to empower them to execute successfully and with autonomy
- Create a culture for your teams that is fun, rewarding, innovative, and results-driven.
- Manage and provide feedback to your team, to support high performance and personal and professional development.

- Utilizing software delivery, technical experience and expertise, offer the right knowledge, at the right time in the right way - understanding why and how people learn
- Leadership skills to create engaged and high performing product teams
- Utilizing your passion for modern software development practices and keenness to use Agile methodologies to ensure your teams are operating in the most effective and efficient way through continuous improvement
- Balancing, communicating and prioritization the needs of individuals, your teams and the business as a whole.
- Coaching and Mentoring cross-functional teams with a focus on learning and ownership within your team.
- Utilising OKRs to help the team set, track, and hit quarterly goals
- Keeping your team’s vision and values at the forefront of decision making and actions and making this a priority to the wider team in their day-to-day behaviours and activities.
