Wellington City, New Zealand Ministry for Regulation Full time

Work in a collaborative environment that values your professional input
- Utilise your expert knowledge to support effective government engagement
- Make a positive impact within a new central agency

**About the Ministry for Regulation**

The Ministry for Regulation is a newly established small government agency with a big job to do. We are a small group of dedicated professionals, working in a 'can do' environment.

The New Zealand government uses regulation to protect communities from harm, and to improve outcomes for its people. Our job is to help improve the overall quality of regulation - and the way it is implemented - by working across the public service with experts in their fields.

**About the Role**

Reporting into the Head of Ministerial Services, this pivotal role involves overseeing key initiatives across the wider Ministry.

This role will lead strategic planning, reporting, monitoring, and performance management initiatives across the Ministry while providing high-level advice and expertise to enhance its effectiveness, drive performance improvement, and ensure alignment with overall strategic goals. You will work closely with stakeholders to design and implement frameworks that support planning activities and performance evaluation, fostering key relationships. In supporting the senior leadership team, you will assist in the monitoring and reporting of performance data and trends. You will also lead the compilation of the Ministry’s accountability documents including the Annual Report and Strategic Intentions.

The Principal Advisor, Planning and Performance role works collaboratively across the Ministry and will provide many opportunities to extend your advisory expertise across the wider ministry.

**About you**
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, performance frameworks and the development of organisational documents
- Is proactive and a motivated team player with a proven ability to build strong professional relationships through effective collaboration with stake holders.
- Is composed under pressure, with strong self-management skills to swiftly respond to a crisis, handle competing priorities, and adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining effective time management.
- Has a can-do attitude and high initiative, able to problem solve, while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism in handling sensitive information with sound judgment and discretion.

**What we can offer you**
- The opportunity to be directly involved in standing up a new central agency.
- Work with a dedicated and supportive leadership team, with a strong delivery focus and a can-do approach.
- An opportunity to influence and deliver on a wide range of work.
