Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Te Papa stands proud as an iconic national building housing the treasures of the nation and is a vibrant destination for both national and international visitors. Biculturalism is a founding philosophy and practice of Te Papa designed to explore the contribution of Māori language and culture to the life, culture and activities of the museum in small and large ways. Te Papa fosters and nurtures cross-cultural capability, the ability of people of different cultural backgrounds to interact with one another in positive and uplifting ways.
Te Papa has recently established an Office of the Co-Leaders with the responsibility of ensuring the museum flourishes under Te Rautaki o Te Papa (Te Papa's Strategy) and the high-quality strategic performance against the organisation's accountabilities.
The position provides expert knowledge and guidance to the Head of Governance and Strategy, Co-Leaders, Executive Leadership Team, Board and wider organisation on risk and resilience and business continuity functions.
A unique opportunity exists for a professional, proactive individual looking to:

- Implement and maintain an appropriate risk and compliance framework, including appropriate internal controls, policies and procedures to ensure compliance
- Support the Head of Governance and Strategy to provide advice and guidance to the Executive Leadership Team on the identification and management of strategic and entity risks.
- Report to Tikanga Haumaru (Te Papa's Assurance and Risk Committee) on the strategic and entity risks faced by Te Papa and actions taken to manage those risks (risk and compliance management and performance).
- Work with business owners to identify, report and assist in mitigating (where possible), all significant risks and rectify compliance failures in a timely manner.

This is a vital role to ensure appropriate assurance, controls and procedures are in place. You will be involved in the identification, assessment and management of financial and non-financial risks that could impact Te Papa's ability to achieve its goals.
You will have significant previous experience in risk assessment with the capability to provide sound advice and training on risk and resilience, quality and systems to promote a culture of risk management across Te Papa. You'll be a self
- starter, out and about across the business working actively with leaders and team members at all levels. Well-developed relationship management skills and excellent oral and written communication skills will further your success.
Applications close on 28 March 2024
Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain the legal right to work in New Zealand.
Prior to Te Papa confirming any offer of employment, pre-employment checks will be undertaken including criminal conviction history and reference checking as a minimum.
