**He aha te mahi? What’s the role?**:
This role is part of the Trials & Data Insights team, who are responsible for undertaking and reporting demonstrative and robust grower trials that support industry knowledge creation as well as mining various industry data sets to establish benchmarks and to understand trends in practices and production in relation to global business priorities.
There is a significant need and opportunity to gather and analyse “field related” data within the Precommercial Variety Trialist programme so that this can be shared back with the Trialist growers with a view to them adapting their practices to optimise the performance of the varieties with a view to successful commercialisation. This data will also be essential to the company monitoring the performance of the varieties against agreed ‘action standards’ to inform the commercialisation decision.
The purpose of this role is to enter, collate and analyse the field data collected by other individuals including third part contractors and other members of the team and provide succinct summaries of the information to the business.
- Participate in the development of a fit for purpose system for capture of qualitative and quantitative data capture that protects IP and future proofs availability of data.
- Develop input systems for qualitative and quantitative data that ensures consistency of information and ease of interrogation (including development of surveys to be completed in hard and soft copy).
- Receipt in field data, where necessary enter the data into relevant databases including completing sense-checking and data cleaning as required to achieve data accuracy.
- Perform data extraction and complete transformation as required by the workplan.
- Present data in an appropriate visual format to be included in report back to growers, internal documents to inform business decisions around commercialisation and develop the New Variety Information Guide.
- Provide written interpretation of data with a particular focus on trends over time and limitations to any reporting.
- Provide input into the development of the Pre commercial Trials and Data Insights workstream.
- Support the Expression Of Interest for new Trialist process in areas such as data collation, processing, and reporting.
- Support the Precommercial activities in CRM, specifically the inputting, auditing, and reporting of the trial database information and the trial entitlement allocation and take-up systems.
**Ko wai koe? Who are you?**:
- Graduate qualification in Computer Science, Biological Science or Management type areas or significant data analysis job experience.
- Field experience in agriculture (ideally horticultural) production preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Advanced Excel skills including Visual Basic Skills with the ability to create models that are refreshable for other users.
- Advanced data modelling skills using programs such as Power BI and SQL management studio.
- Ability to use statistical packages such as JMP and Sigma plot.
- Adept at report writing and verbally presenting summarised data.
- Interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team.
- NZ Drivers Licence.
