**About the role**

This role is responsible for supporting democracy administration functions to ensure open and transparent decision making by elected members.

This role also supports Council to meet its obligations under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA) and the Privacy Act 2020.

Reporting to the Democracy Support Manager your role will be office based, working in the greater team of 6 people who provide governance advice and meeting support to elected members, designated committee Director and the Chief Executive.

You’ll recognise the importance of the role as a Treaty partner and understand how that underpins Gisborne District Council’s work.

**Duties Include**:

- Processing reports into agendas
- Ensuring reports are in line with legislative requirements
- Minute taking
- Providing advice and guidance on best practice
- Community engagement about our democratic processes

**Skills & experience**

Anyone from practical administration experience will suit this role. Being great with the Microsoft Office Suite is essential as is a can-do attitude with our specialized meeting software.
