About the role

New Zealand Police has an extensive portfolio of police stations, offices, service centres, specialist facilities and houses across New Zealand that play an integral part in delivering Police services.

The National Property Office (NPO) is responsible for the management of the property portfolio as part of the Corporate Operations group, which enables Police through the operational delivery of corporate services. As policing continues to transform, the NPO is increasingly at the forefront of engaging with partners and stakeholders, leading the development of new innovative solutions and improving the asset maturity of the portfolio to ensure it remains fit for purpose and aligned with Police’s strategic intent (Our Business) and specific operational needs.

The Building Manager is responsible for the smooth day to day running of our Tamaki Makaurau (TM) Police properties, ensuring the buildings are safe to occupy and enable the delivery of contemporary Policing practices. This is an exciting and fast paced role which offers variety, an opportunity to build great working relationships and continuous improvement opportunities.

You will also be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of building occupants, coordinating, and managing maintenance/repair activities, liaising with your Police Property team colleagues, vendors and building landlords to ensure smooth daily building operations as well as being a key point of contact for TM Police property questions or issues.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Building and maintaining effective relationships with our Police occupants and suppliers including liaising with both our internal team and subcontractors
- Carry out site visits across key Police property sites within TM
- Management of subcontractors
- Working as part of the wider Police Property team to manage reactive / planned property maintenance effectively and efficiently
- Manage small or assist with larger property projects.
- Develop knowledge of how a variety of Police facilities operates optimally
- Supervision of contractors and if necessary, concierge staff

- Relevant tertiary qualification in property management would be desirable or equivalent working knowledge demonstrated through experience
