An exciting opening is now available in the Manurewa Local Board area for a Senior Librarian Children & Youth, currently based at Manurewa Library.

This role is vital for connecting children, youth, and whānau with library services and programmes. You will be responsible for developing and delivering programmes and events for tamariki and rangatahi that are innovative, responsive, and engaging. This senior librarian role has additional leadership responsibilities in supporting the team.

The role will form part of the leadership team in the library's day-to-day operations and support for team members in our library site. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with rostered Saturdays and late nights.

We are seeking an experienced librarian with LIANZA professional registration.

You will bring a sound knowledge of library technologies and processes, enthusiasm, and an ability to collaborate in the development, implementation, and delivery of library services and programmes. As this is a role that involves working with children, youth, and their families, you will have excellent communication, the natural ability to relate well to people of all ages and backgrounds, and strong digital and readers advisory skills. You will also have a determined approach to lifelong learning and a desire to have fun at work

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • An ability to provide good leadership with strong communication skills
  • An aptitude for building relationships with young people and their whānau, schools, pre-schools, community stakeholders, and the wider council family
  • Skills with technology and the ability to support customers to successfully use information resources and devices
  • A willingness to design and deliver innovative, value-added programmes and events
  • Strong children and youth readers advisory skills
  • LIANZA professional registration

This role is a band F we are expecting to appoint the successful candidate between $73,000 - $86,000 depending on experience.
