**Position Description**

Neonatal Registrar is a valued member of the senior medical team in NICU. The role is an accredited advanced training position for RACP neonatal perinatal trainees. It is a clinical role essential to the delivery of all aspects of neonatal care, including retrieval of critically ill neonates.

Our NICU positions offer the opportunity to learn about retrieval medicine, acutely ill children, procedural skills and a broad range of conditions, with a high level of Consultant supervision and support. Regular teaching sessions are available on Wednesday afternoons and Consultants make every effort to supply teaching on the ward.

The primary purpose of the role is to:
1. Provide clinical care on NICU and clinical supervision of junior medical staff

2. Undertake and support clinical research on NICU

3. Teach resident medical officers, nurses and medical students

**Eligibility and how to apply**:

- Preferred experience: 12 months working as an advanced trainee in neonatal intensive care
- A commitment to biculturalism
- A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
- Medical qualification registerable with the Medical Council of NZ
- FRACP part 1, MRCP or equivalent
- Minimum 6 months working as an advanced trainee in neonatal intensive care
- Eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (for local trainees this means you must have completed two full post-graduate years)
