**About the role | He kōrero whakamārama mō tēnei tūranga**
You will be part of a new and expanding school counselling service and you will work with school leadership teams, children and whānau to understand the unique needs of the ākonga/learners at the school and their cultural needs. You will be experienced at working with tamariki, whānau and local communities and you will have a strong commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi.
This is a permanent part-time position based in Masterton. Hours required are Monday to Thursday 8am - 4pm and Friday will have 3 hours (flexibility on when during the day). School terms only. There may be an additional 2 weeks of call back days throughout the year for team training in school holidays.
Wellbeing Specialist is responsible for the delivery of high quality professional services based on personalised assessment, individual or group therapy and education in wellbeing for a wide range of psychological issues, consistent with our contract obligations with government agencies, funders and other providers.
As a Wellbeing Specialist you will be responsible for the delivery of services to children, and adults that are clinically safe and responsive to client need. Your work with clients will be person centred, efficient and innovative.
You will use a range of evidence-based assessment and therapeutic models and work alongside clients and other disciplines to facilitate sustained and enduring change, stabilisation and/or safety for the client.
**What you will bring | Ngā tohungatanga mō tēnei tūranga**
- Experience in providing a range of strengths-based counselling modalities appropriate to a range of issues e.g. bereavement, trauma, parenting, self-harm, anxiety, resilience
- Experience or validated training in relevant interventions such as CBT, ACT, DBT, EMDR
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) as relevant to membership/registration
- An understanding and commitment to the Code of Health and Disabilities Services Consumer Rights, Professional and regulatory requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including competence in professional report writing
- Proven ability to work in teams
- Specialist knowledge and understanding of the principles of evidence-based therapeutic approaches
- Ability to conduct appropriate (including complex) case formulation
- Ability to undertake evaluation alongside clinical practice and develop and deliver training programmes to a wide variety of audiences
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- A current driver's license for community-based practitioners
- Ability to travel and flexibility to stay overnight for business related needs if required
