**About the team**

Transpower's Grid Development division works to support and identify future grid needs over the next 30 years to ensure the health and performance of our assets supports planned or potential investment in generation and the significant expected growth in electricity demand as articulated in Whakamana i Te Mauri Hiko - Empowering our Energy Future.

The Asset Planning team - Primary Assets leads a portfolio which includes power transformers and indoor and outdoor switchgear at our High Voltage Alternating Current (HVAC) substation sites. Transpower presently has 178 HVAC substation sites, with a number of new sites under development to support new connections and demand growth.

**About the opportunity**

You'll work collaboratively to support the delivery and development of asset class management plans (ensuring the appropriate balance of cost and risk), identify and investigate complex problems, and assist in the development of standards and sustainable works plans.

The work is interesting and varied and includes:

- Contributing to the development and integration of Asset Management plans for both Capex and Opex over a 15-year horizon
- Making forecasts and predictions using models and tools, supported by historical data
- Supporting the development, review, and calibration of asset health models
- Using whole of life costing principles to develop business cases for the replacement and refurbishment of assets
- Undertaking strategic initiatives and planning / process improvement activities.

You'll provide advice and reporting to a range of varied stakeholders and input into capital and operational works plans for business planning and Regulatory Control Period justification.

**What you'll bring**

We'd love to hear from you if you have a background in electricity, other utilities, or consulting. You may have applied sound asset and risk management principles and completed options analysis and cost benefit analysis to support investment decisions.

**To be considered, your CV and covering letter will demonstrate the following**:

- Asset Management knowledge and experience - working within an Asset Management team or framework, or equivalent experience and qualifications
- Commercial savvy - you have an awareness of financial analysis and risk management
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills

**While not essential, the following experience will be well regarded**:

- Project management experience - the ability to scope and manage strategic investigations using internal resources as well as external consultants
- A relevant degree level qualification and/or asset management qualification
- Innovative thinking and demonstration of identifying new ways of working that have delivered real business benefit
