**Āu Mahi | What You Will Do**
E whai tonu mātou, Te Kura Whakangungu Kaiako i tētahi pūkenga hou e ngākaunui ki te reo Māori, te marautanga Māori me ngā āhuatanga Māori katoa. Ko te taumata o te mahi nei, he Pūkenga, Pūkenga Matua, he Ahoranga Tūhono rānei.

Our staff of Te Kura Whakangungu Kaiako | School of Teacher Education are looking for a new colleague to join a vibrant and well-established early childhood whānau. This position is a full-time and continuing (i.e., permanent) position. The position will be appointed at the level of Pūkenga, Pūkenga Matua, or Ahorangi Tūhono.

Ko te mahi matua, ki te whakaako ngā Mātauranga Māori ki ngā hōtaka whare kōhungahunga me ngā mahi rangahau e tūhono ana ki te mana o ngā pēpi, nohinohi, tamariki me ngā whānau.

The role gives prominence to Mātauranga Māori (Māori ways of being, doing and knowing) to support and/or inform early childhood education teaching programmes and research activity.

**Mōu | Who You Are**
Applicants should have a research focus and teaching experience in areas that align with the needs of Te Kura Whakangungu Kaiako | School of Teacher Education such as Te ao Māori (identity, language and culture) and Te Tiriti o Waitangi (all four articles) informed teaching and learning. The significance of this role is to grow and strengthen mātauranga Māori within immersion (te reo Māori), bilingual (te reo Māori/English) and English medium early childhood educational programmes.

**NB**: Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand requirements are as follows:

- Tātaireo: Level 1: 81 to 100% te reo Māori programme deliveries for immersion settings;
- Tātaireo: Level 2: 51 to 80% te reo Māori programme deliveries; and
- Te Aho Arataki Marau - the te reo Māori Curriculum for English Medium settings: minimum of Level 3-4.
- Lived experiences of te ao Māori.

**The person appointed to this position must meet the following requirements**:

- Level of fluency in te reo Māori to Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand requirements L1- 2 (see above).
- Has relevant experience within early childhood contexts.
- Confidence in working with local iwi, rūnanga, mātāwaka, Māori community and wider community groups.
- Conversant with the kawa and tikanga practices of the local iwi.
- Have comprehensive and thorough working knowledge of _Te Whāriki_ in practice; Te Whāriki a te Kōhanga Reo in practice; Te Whatu Pōkeka in action; and can demonstrate the _Code of Professional Responsibility_, and _Standards of the Teaching Profession in New Zealand_ within own professional practice.
- Ability to integrate digital technologies into course design and teaching.
- Applicants at the Pūkenga Matua and Ahorangi Tūhono levels should have a record of supervision of Master's and/or Doctorate students. Evidence of an emerging or established record of research success with capacity to grow as a research leader.

**The following are preferred qualities of prospective applicants**:

- Experience teaching in Kōhanga reo and/ or Puna Reo, te reo Māori immersion or bilingual (te reo Māori/English) settings.
- The incumbent needs to be ready, willing and able to teach at Christchurch campus and visit students in the Canterbury region.
- A current New Zealand Teaching Council practising certificate to enable visits to students on professional practice placements.
- Experience in teaching at a tertiary level or experience in teacher education, mentoring teachers, and/or leading professional learning for teachers or other adults.

**Mātauranga | Education**
- For the Pūkenga level a Tino Rangatiratanga Whakapakari Tohu and Teaching Qualification are desirable.
