In these pivotal roles, you will play a crucial part in the National Cyber Security Uplift programme, driving cyber awareness and maturity across the sector in New Zealand.

As a Senior/Intermediate Security Analyst, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of cyber security practices, optimize our IT services, and contribute to innovative projects that benefit the entire nation.

**What you’ll do**:

- Maintain the security of new and existing information technology services in the Cyber Security Uplift programme.
- Provide technical support to key stakeholders, including the Security Operations manager and Chief Information Security Officers (CISO’s).
- Act as a crucial link between our technical team and business stakeholders, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective communication.
- Utilize your expertise in creating analytical queries, playbooks, and automation rules to enhance our cyber security operations.
- Identify and mitigate network vulnerabilities while providing guidance on avoidance strategies.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of our security services and processes.
- Stay at the forefront of cyber security trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Foster a culture of cyber security awareness and compliance throughout the organization.

**What you’ll bring to the table**:

- Extensive experience with Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender suite.
- In-depth knowledge of cyber security practices in a hybrid environment, including on-premise, SaaS, and cloud services, preferably in an operation and/or incident management role.
- Proven ability to create and implement analytical queries, playbooks, and automation rules to enhance security operations.
- Past experience mentoring and guiding junior security analysts, showcasing your leadership and knowledge-sharing abilities.
- Excellent oral and written technical communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in identifying and mitigating network vulnerabilities, along with the ability to articulate preventive measures.
- Broad understanding of security technologies, including SIEM, firewalls, networking, system administration, and scripting.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as PSR, NZISM, ISO 27001/27002, NIST, ASD IRAP, OWASP, or similar frameworks.
- Knowledge of common IT security tools like Tenable, Nessus, NMAP, Kali Linux, Elastic, or similar.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate New Zealand Government security clearance.
