**Senior Cyber Security Analyst**

The Senior Cyber Security Analyst role forms part of the Operations Security Team which protects the Council against security threats 24/7/365. The role provides expert support to other profiles in the Operations Security team and carry out detailed analysis of security related events.

In this role you will also provide expert level input and guidance across security incidents to the wider ICT team, and ensure that measures are in place to detect and respond to future incidents.

The position will also involve identifying and hunting for emerging threats, responding to and leading security incidents, and monitoring and improving our detection aperture.

As the Senior Cyber Security Analyst, you will take a proactive role with process improvement and development, as well as implementing and maintaining our operation security toolset. You will also take a role in guiding and helping others develop their skill sets, and be a team player in this diverse, highly skilled, and agile team.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

It is essential that you have proven senior level experience in similar roles within the following areas gained from large enterprise organisations:

- Information/Cyber Security;
- SOC/SIEM analyst;
- Threat Hunting
- Incident Response / Forensics
- Malware Analysis / Reverse Engineering.

An in-depth knowledge in security incident management processes and tools, as well as Threat Intelligence Platforms and Hunting techniques is paramount for this role.

You will also be performing technical security analysis and report writing. This said, your expert level of skills in either: Incident Response, Digital Forensics, SOC/SIEM development and analysis, along with your exposure in using forensic tools and SIEM tools will be heavily put into practice. This role includes an On-Call rotation shared amongst the member of our Team.

Your relevant qualifications and certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA, CISM, CISSP, SANS, Splunk, Agile, etc., will contribute to your success in this role.

**Nice-to-haves**:

- Proficiency in programming languages - Powershell, Python, Javascript etc.
- IAM - Identity and Access Management experience
- Reverse Engineering/Malware Analysis/Digital Forensics experience
- Experience with various Linux OS flavours
- Threat Modelling
