Auckland City, New Zealand Beca Full time

**Our Geotechnical Team**

Developing and implementing solutions to complex problems, our team is helping shape the world we live in across the Asia Pacific region - from highways to airports, from buildings and reservoirs to bridges and tunnels. Together we are transforming our world. We are passionate about what we do and the culture we have developed. The more diverse we are, the better our ideas, strategies and client solutions will be, and the more we will better represent our world. We know we are stronger when people from different backgrounds and perspectives work together. We are committed to growing an environment where our people have equal opportunity to build a career that reflects their ability and passions, believe in their potential, feel they belong, and can be their best selves.

We are proudly employee-owned and after a century of operation, employee ownership remains key to our future. It underpins our positive, purpose-driven, growth-oriented culture; it sets us apart in our markets and gives meaning to our social contract. We are accountable, have each other's backs, don’t let each other down, and strive for excellence in everything we do.

We recognise that one of the challenges people can face in building their careers is managing work and home life. We will encourage you to find an arrangement that works for you, whether that involves part-time, working from home or flexible working arrangements. We are open to discussing how this could work for you for roles across our Geotechnical team.

**The opportunity**

Our Geotechnical team works across geotechnical engineering, engineering geology and hydrogeology. As a national team of over 130 people, we are excited for the opportunities ahead of us and are well-placed to help Aotearoa advance and protect our world for future generations. Together we make things happen on projects throughout Aotearoa, Australia, the Pacific and South-East Asia. We all go to work to make every day better in some way. We know that our work is more than foundations, ground and water, it's about developing sustainable solutions that support our communities and a healthy environment as well as continuous improvement — by doing things better every day, we make everyday better.

We’re looking for an Engineering Geologist to join us in Auckland. Every day will be different with new challenges, but overall you will be responsible to:

- Produce plans, reports, proposals and specifications to meet client requirements.
- Direct and undertake desk-based assessments of sites or site areas, including studies of aerial photographs and research and review of published data, to guide project investigation and design.
- Scope and manage field investigations, including commissioning of drilling crews and organising laboratory testing to expand the understanding of a site or region or as a basis for hazard or risk evaluation.
- Direct and undertake field investigations, including field mapping, the direction of drilling crews, detailed logging of boreholes, sampling and monitoring, hand auguring and logging of test pits.
- Develop 2D and 3D ground models using available data to inform problem definition and design.
- Undertake computer-aided data analysis and evaluation, e.g. slope stability modelling.
- Carry out field reconnaissance of sites featuring natural hazards, e.g. slips, provide advice and develop designs for remediation solutions.
- Build strong internal and external relationships and assist senior members of the business to secure additional business opportunities.

**About you**

You love to learn and share knowledge and are someone who can bring a fresh perspective. You are a qualified Engineering Geologist (preferably with a relevant postgraduate qualification) with passion and good problem-solving skills. Having recently completed a graduate programme in a similar consulting or contracting environment, you will also have an enquiring mind, be able to problem-solve and think laterally. How you work is also important to us - we will value your enthusiasm and motivation to continue learning from your peers and more senior team members.

Working amongst a group of highly motivated professionals, you will step into an open and supportive culture that values the skills you contribute to the group.

A career with Beca will provide you with the following:

- Professional development opportunities.
- A supportive and caring work environment where you can bring your whole self to work.

- A highly supportive environment of sharing and collaboration.
