We have an opportunity for a passionate team leader to work alongside our Produce Manager and Team

The primary role of the Produce Assistant Manager is to assist the Department Manager and the Department Team in ensuring our customers receive an awesome shopping experience.

This is a full-time position with a minimum 40 hours per week. We are offering competitive rates reflective of qualifications and current skill level. New World Matamata is located in a central location of the Upper North Island with only a short 45 minutes to Mt Maunganui, Rotorua and Hamilton.

Responsibilities include:

- Assisting the manager in planning and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Produce department
- Help to control ordering for Department through effective use of the in-store purchasing systems
- Ensure appropriate stock control / stock taking processes and procedures are in place
- Help to ensure the shop is full fresh and appealing throughout the hours of trade
- Ensure all products meet our standards of presentation, is attractively presented, and correctly labelled
- Lead and provide direction to team members
- Maintain high standards of Food & Workplace Safety
- Deputise for the Department Manager when required

What we are looking for:

- 1-2 years supermarket or FMCG experience with SAP knowledge is preferred
- 1-2 years supervisory experience is preferred
- Passion for providing friendly, helpful and exceptional customer service
- A leader with excellent communication, who will grow and coach their team to perform to their best
- Reliable, honest and be a good team player
- Physically fit, as some heavy lifting is involved, and able to fulfil the requirements of the role
