Medical Laboratory Scientist - Microbiology

Our team consists of talented and skilled individuals, all of whom play an important role in helping us to be New Zealand's leading provider of quality private healthcare services.

Our Microbiology Department is currently looking for an enthusiastic competent Medical Laboratory scientist (80 hours per fortnight). This is a fixed-term position to provide cover for maternity leave and you will be required to participate in evening and Saturday rosters.

This role requires participation in general microbiology duties including:_**
- Preparing and plating specimens
- Examination and interpretation of culture plates
- Automated and manual identification and susceptibility testing
- Undertaking quality control testing and reporting
- Equipment and laboratory environment maintenance

**_ To succeed in this role you will need:_**
- To be registered with the NZ Medical Sciences Council
- New graduates with microbiology placement experience are welcome to apply
- An understanding of the principles, techniques, and methods used in microbiology
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to follow procedures and work in a busy environment
